Nine of Swords The Nine of Swords represents the dark hours of loneliness, grief and despair. It is not only about the one who has lost, but also about the one who is lost. Both suffer the pain of separation and it is in the still hours of the night that the memories surface unchallenged by the sunlight. It is an internal grief; yet the one who has lost will find what they seek if the search is continued. The swords appear to be confining, yet they do not completely close around the one who is lost. Once the daylight returns, the path through the swords will be revealed, and the one who is lost will find the way home.
