A young man is in front of three cups which have fallen from his hands, his body shows surprise, anxiety, worry and some shame. He is at a party but now all his attention is focused on the cups he has just spilt, while his friend wonders why so much drama for the spilt cups. He already has two more full cups and is willing to share with the young man in black when he decides to move on and go back to the party.
Symbolism
The content of the three cups on the floor were spilled by a character dressed in dark colours, representing the sad feelings experienced after a loss. Two more cups in the hands of another character dressed in brighter colours, including a green t-shirt, for hope on the things to come.
Card Meaning
Five of Cups is about losses we suffer and the regrets and pain we feel. All kinds of losses are included and the feeling we have at those moments. It's OK to experience those feelings and regrets, but life goes on and we shall move on, learn from the experience, and use it to grow wiser. We see what else has the life for us - we might be surprised with something good that helps us see the loss in its right proportion.
Artistic Media
