Description

The card shows two towers seemingly pulling themselves from the deserted sandy island and floating in air. The sky is clear with only a few lingering clouds. The moon is large and in its full phase which is reflecting down upon the crab making its way onto the beach.

Symbolism

When the card was actually being created and painted, I wasn't thinking of the symbolism that I was going to use. I just let a bit of creative imagination come to life and in a sense the card came to life as well. It has taken me a bit to mull over the symbolism that came out of it in the end. Tradition shows that two canines are usually present in this card. It's very obvious that they are missing here. Instead the elements that are present seem a bit larger than life. Mostly the crab here isn't your average size. The towers have pulled themselves out of the ground and are floating in the night sky. To me this card screams illusion loudly.

Card Meaning

The Moon card is the card of illusion and emotions. Withdrawing socially to look inward into one's self. This card can represent the things we sometimes do not see, or otherwise what I like to call the dark side of the moon. Phases of the moon changes the gravity levels and thus changes directly effect our emotions and ways of thinking or doing things. Reversed the card could mean a struggle against these temporary changes.

Artistic Media

The card was first created with a rough sketch. Once satisfied with the general idea, a simple sketch was drawn on an 8x11 sketch paper. The card was completed with acrylic paints.
